Fantastic! Beautiful displays of skins from fish, lamb, horse, cow, sheep, etc. There are a lot to choose from. I especially loved all the different colored fish skins. Just amazing what they can do here. Not only can you buy just the skins, but some of them have been turned into belts, clothes, shoes, etc. Friendly and helpful staff. You can even take a tour of the tannery. In the backroom, on the walls, are stories of the different time periods throughout the tanning history of Iceland. It takes some time to go through and read them all, but it's well worth it. There is such a rich history here of how tanning hides has changed throughout the ages. I was stunned to see that there are so many different methods one can use in the process! Really neat place. Definitely worth your time to stop in.

Im Juni 2015 machte unser Reiseleiter in Sauðárkrókur einen Stopp. Wir besuchten dort einen Verkaufs- und Ausstellungsraum für Leder. Ein interessanter, Ort! Besonders faszinierend und beeindruckend sind die aus Fischhäuten produzierten Leder mit ihrer weichen, farbig schillernden Haut. Auch daraus hergestellte Produkte kann man hier erwerben. Die Angestellten sind freundlich und hilfsbereit. In der Ausstellung kann man sich über die Geschichte der Gerbereien in Island informieren. Ein faszinierender Ort für einen Besuch!

We had just a quick stop here on our way through town. A nice litte experience seeing how they made (and still makes) different kinds of leather. I was surprised that fish leather would be so beautiful. Worth a stop. You can also buy leather here at reasonable prices

It isn't much of a visitors center? I feel like it would be better described as a tannery with leather shop? It's a nice shop and it was neat to look in the back window and see the tannery. If you're looking to shop for leather or animal skins this is a great stop. If you're looking for culture and staff to engage with I don't think this is the right stop for you.

Really cool high end fish tannery shop. They have both finished products featuring tanned fish leather and the leather itself. There are informative boards on the walls in several languages detailing the history of tanning in Iceland. Finished products include handbags, bowties, wallets, jewelry and clothing.

Standen heute vor verschlossener Tür. Das Schild über der Tür war abmontiert und durch die Fenster sah man nur leere Ausstellungsfläche. Die Gerberei gibt es wohl nicht mehr oder ist umgezogen.
