A nice stop after a long drive through the highlands and before arriving at Kerlingarfjoll base camp. Looked like a lovely place to stop and picnic for lunch, but we just walked around for some photos before moving on to the base camp to get started early on a long hike.

As if there weren't enough nice waterfalls to see in Iceland, this is one on the F347 detour off Rt 35 to Kerlingarfjöll. There is a pullover on the west side of the river and falls if you want to get out and see Gýgjarfoss up close. It is a fairly classic short falls for Iceland. West of the falls, you can see how the river carved through the land, making a fairly dramatic little gorge as well. Worth the stop to view, especially if looking for a bit of a rest break from driving.

Beautiful waterfall. Must visit if you are traveling to Kerlingerfjöll. I think it's one of those underrated places in Iceland. The route is extremely scenic as well.

Another waterfall, small for Icelandic means, but the surrounding landscape is a plus.

Great waterfall. Right off the road and you can get up close. There are well maintained stairs to walk on to get closer if you wanted.
