Steiner Guesthouse is located a short trip (10 minutes by car) to the Blue Lagoon and about 25 minutes from the Keflavik Airport. We booked the studio room. It is located on the ground floor off the front of the house with a private entrance. It had a queen bed and a sofa bed, small table with four chairs, microwave, one burner stovetop (we did not use) and small refrigerator. There was also a private bathroom in the studio room. I only went in the main house (where the other rooms are located) to meet the other guests so no opinion on those rooms. No one available at check-in but you will receive an email a couple of days before arriving. The email met our needs so had no need to contact anyone on arrival. Overall, it is clean but bathroom could use a little work. Our key was in room door upon arrival. For the price we were satisfied for our family of four (two adults and two kids).

We found this sweet spot last minute, late at night after spending a couple of hours at the Blue Lagoon. It was only twenty-minutes away, we prepaid online and upon arrival no one answered but the door was unlocked. There was a note on the wall to call a number just above the phone at the desk. We called, a woman answered and told us our room was #3 and that the key was at the door. The guest house was warm, had a homey feeling and beautiful photographs of Iceland on the walls. The kitchen was efficient with plenty of extras marked "free" like coffee, pasta, bread and condiments. The next day, we wanted to take it easy by cruising down the coast heading east. We found trails and historical landmarks along the way. We stayed another night - the lady was super nice and extended the same rate and same room so we did not have to move out. We had a chance to pet her wonderful well-behaved dogs and a nice chat. This place is a great value for anyone looking for a base near the capital, airport and near the coast. There is a neat little food stand just around the corner- the owner is quite friendly and served delicious fish and chips (the cheapest and best flavor we found in our short stay).

||Steinar can be seen as either very odd or how an ideal guesthouse should run if you trust everyone. We arrived and essentially checked ourselves in with the help of a phone call to the manager (somewhere offsite but close by) using our Icelandic sim enabled iphone (Simin – purchased in the little grocery store in the arrivals area of the Keflavik airport) though there looked to be a phone provided. There were other guests who knew about as much as we did. There is a very pleasant common lounge downstairs with a TV which we never really had time to use.Our family room for 2 adults and two ten year olds was fine and the communal bathrooms/ wifi were fine. In the morning, there was again no one there again but it didn’t seem to matter. Anyway, we just helped ourselves to whatever was around regarding breakfast. We managed to find enough cereal and just enough milk and also crackers (or maybe even bread) and jam and made tea. The kitchen was large, clean, pleasant and had sufficient amenities for meal preparation. We read the hilarious trip advisor review of Steinar where the reviewers felt like naughty children helping themselves to the food in the kitchen but I think that is what you are meant to do. I would recommend taking some cereal and milk or whatever you feel like as far as breakfast goes, but expect that it is communal. We chose Steinar as an affordable option near the Blue Lagoon and airport (we flew out next day) and it was perfect for this (with a car) and I would go there again.||

La guesthouse è davvero molto carina. Si trova a Grindavik una cittadina che mi é piaciuta molto. La guesthouse é pulita e le camere grandi con lavandino in stanza. Solo due pecche: 1) i bagni si trovano solo al piano inferiore;|2) nella mia stanza c'era solo una presa ( poteva essere inserita una doppia spina).|Tutto il resto era perfetto. La cucina ricca di ingredienti e con tutto il necessario per cucinare qualsiasi cosa. Carino anche il salotto.

Simple accomodation but enough for short stays. We stayed just for one night after landing at Keflavik airport in the evening. The house has 5 rooms in total, 2 shared bathrooms and a communal kitchen. We did not meet the host as we got e-mail directions for self check-in (very convenient option if you arrive late at night). Room no. 4 (upstairs) was tiny and clean - bed, washbasin, some place to hang the clothes and few cabinets along the wall. Not much space to move around so not very comfortable. You leave the shoes at the entrance. ||||Shared bathroom was good, with hot shower and generally clean. Kitchen also OK, with some complimentary food from the host to use for breakfast if needed (but do not think the breakfast is included in price - just some food to share like butter, jam or cereals) what is a nice gesture.||||There's a small parking in front of the house. ||||As for Iceland standards, the price was great (I used discount code from one of US online booking agents) but accommodation can be recommended rather for short stays.

Nous avons passé ici notre première nuit en Islande, cette guesthouse étant bien située à une vingtaine de minute de l'aéroport en voiture, l'accueil est un peu spécial puisqu'il faut appeller la gérante de l'établissement avec le téléphone de la maison (il y a une affichette avec son numéro dans l'entrée ) car elle n'habite pas sur place. Cependant nous avons pu disposer de notre (grande) chambre de suite puisque la clef était sur le bureau a côté de téléphone. la maison est propre, la cuisine tres bien équipée et les deux douches/wc communs sont largement suffisants pour tous les occupants , le petit déjeuner est en libre service, copieux ,et surtout compris dans le prix qui est par ailleurs imbattable! Il y a de nombreuses curiosités a voire dans le secteur un excellent bar/restaurant a deux pas de là et ce village constitue un point de départ idéal pour un séjour en Islande.

La posizione è ottimale per raggiungere le attrazioni turistiche della penisola. La cittadina di Grindavík è molto suggestiva con il suo porto ed il suo museo del pesce salato (distante pochi metri dall’abitazione) La casa è carina, ci sono 5 camere, tutte con lavandini e specchiere interne e due bagni, un ampio salone con Tv ed una cucina. La cucina non era il massimo della pulizia; ma per una notte ci si può pure adattare tenendo presente il rapporto qualità prezzo.

Une maison facile à trouver par sa couleur et son style, chambre agréable et très bonne literie, une seule salle de bain, deux WC. Petit déjeuner moyen. Mon tarif était de 108 Euros la nuit pour trois personnes en Mai.||Propriétaire vue 5 min, explications brèves, manque de chaleur à mon goût ...||Cette guesthouse est parfaite pour une nuit de passage, je n'y resterais cependant pas plusieurs jours...
