Nice little geothermal walk with free parking (for now). There's also a short hike up the mountain that nobody was doing, but offers great views with not a lot of effort. The road getting here is also very scenic, with a few lakes in the vicinity.

Site libre .

Cool geothermal area, quite smaller than Hvevir but if you’re not going to the other side of the island it is a good stop. It looks like they are constructing cameras for pay parking soon but currently it is free. There are some free bathrooms on site as well. Overall a short walk and a few viewing platforms.

Sehr aktives Georthermalgebiet, absolut sehenswert. WC beim Parkplatz vorhanden. Menschenmenge überschaubar.

Seltún Geothermal Area is absolutely mesmerizing! Walking through the steaming vents and bubbling mud pots feels like stepping onto another planet. The colors of the earth—fiery reds, deep yellows, and eerie greens—are surreal and vivid, shaped by the intense geothermal forces beneath your feet. The boardwalks allow you to get safely close to the action, and the views are simply unforgettable. It’s quiet, raw, and incredibly photogenic. Seltún is a must-see for anyone exploring Iceland’s wild side—pure geothermal magic in its most beautiful, untamed form!

The site is close to Kef airport. You can stop on your way in or out easy trail near the parking. Parking was free for this location, but they were installing cameras at entrance. So, it may change

Voldoende parkeergelegenheid…
