Lovely hotel, woodsy vibe. Nice hot tubs out back. Bit of a weird setup as you are walking past the restaurant in tone and slippers to get to the spa/hot tubs. Nice bar area. Aurora wake up calls were perfect as we got to see the lights a second time on our visit. Right in front of the hotel.. Had more room amenities than other same cost hotels we stayed in. Location is very remote so there is no place to get food aside from the hotel. So eat before if you don’t want to eat there. English breakfast available but was not particularly hot. Room on the small side but not too bad. Very close to the glacier lagoon and diamond beach which are awesome and a must see.

Check in was very easy . Although there is both a steep ramp and several stairs to go from the road to the reception area, there is also a nice ramp for wheelchairs, etc. The receptionist was knowledgeable and friendly. The room was very spacious, with views of the ocean. Beds were very very comfortable. There Is an open closet with a refrigerator and a safe. There is a portable fan in the room. Bathroom was immaculate with very nice fixtures. Towels were large and thick/luxurious. The electrical outlets were located by the desk. I did not see any USB outlets so you will need to bring the appropriate chargers and cables for your devices. Staff are wonderful, and appear to have varying backgrounds. It's a nice international flavor.
The wifi is very good. I did measure their wifi reception as follows: Upload 46 MBPS and download 70 MBPS in my room.
There no restaurants in the surrounding area so you are bound to the hotel's restaurant. The food at the restaurant was, bytheway excellent. We rented a vehicle in Reykjavik and drove out here. The hotel will notify you if the Aurora Borealis is present: you have to sign up for this, and the service is free. We were treated to several spectacular Northern lights shows. We watched them from the hotel's parking lot as well as from the grounds on the side nearest to the ocean. The northern lights display was the highlight of our 3 week trip to this area of the world. There's very little ambient light so it was easy to see the northern lights.
I would say it definitely is a romantic setting, and I would use this hotel to explore the surrounding area again. I will have lifetime memories of my stay here

We stayed at this hotel on 9/9/25 and while it is nice lodging, our experience was less than optimal.

1. We were offered and acceptaed a wake up call for the Northern Lights, but apparently, nobody actually goes outside to make sure the aurora is visible because when we woke up, got dressed and went outside, it was cloudy and rainy with zero chance of seeing anything. Several other couples were out there and equally bewildered. Perhaps the hotel should make sure the aurora is visible before needlessly waking guests.

2. After we returned to our room and tried to get settled in to go back to sleep, I noticed the floor next to the bed was wet, but it wasn't until we got into bed that the drip, drip, drip was observed. It was after midnight when we called the front desk to report a leak from the ceiling and they sent someone within 30 minutes to scope out the issue. Apparently, the water was coming from the bathroom on the floor above ours, but there was nothing that could be done and we were forced to listen to the drip for hours until finally falling asleep.

The next morning, we had breakfast in our room and were packing up when the front dest called and offered us a free breakfast for the inconvenience of the leak in our room. We did not want or need the breakfast and would have appreciated a discount on the room which is overpriced by at least $200 a night by California standards.

3. We had many phenomenal meals on our 14 day trip, including dining at Moss Restaurant at the Blue Lagoon, Budir Hotel and an Arctic Char I made for us on a hotplate in our room at Bru Guesthouse, but the only regretable meal we had was at this hotel. The beet salad was inedible drowning in a blue cheese sauce and I have never had such an odd flavored tartare.

I hope others have a better experience than we did, but we left exhausted and extremely dissatisfied with our stay.

Nice boutique style hotel in great location. No lighting in the car park so watchout when arriving during darkness hours. Rooms are comfortable enough but lighting is terrible. Poor light when making coffee so had to rearrange the desk light. The coffee machine is faff this hotel really needs to have kettle in the room and use long life milk than creamer, not everyone likes coffee!! Hotel also needs to install mirror lighting in shower room. Hotel South Coast in Selfoss have much much superior room lighting and convenient electrical sockets. This hotel is attempting high end but not quite getting there.

We chose to stay at the Fosshotel our first two nights in Iceland because we wanted to be in a dark sky area in hopes of seeing the aurora borealis. Unfortunately, it was too overcast both nights.
That said, we liked the location not too far from the glacier and Diamond Beach. The hotel is located right off the Ring Road with sweeping views down to the sea. There is a lovely waterfall behind the hotel with a small path to walk up for a closer view. The decor is a lot of dark wood and striking glass pendants hanging from the ceilings.
Inside our standard room was very tight. The bathroom can get quite wet from showering. That said, the bed was heavenly and we slept very well. There is a small window we left cracked open as the temperature can get warm inside. There is no thermostat. There is a small heater inside the bathroom.
They have a very good breakfast. Delicious eggs and bread. Yummy granola. Dinner both night was very good. All the fish was delicious and the salad greens were fresh and crunchy.
I would stay here again.
