ágætt en lítið og sjónvarpið virkaði ekki eða það er að segja það virkaði ein stöð en síðan var ekki hægt að slökkva á því nema að kippa því úr sambandi. Sturturnar voru frekar á skrítnum stað .||Morgunverðurinn í öðru húsi og þar var frekast sagt mjög dónaleg kona sem kom og gargaði yfir borðsalinn á bæði íslensku og ensku að við þyrftum að drífa okkur að borða og koma okkur út fyrir kl 10 því það þyrfti að þrífa staðinn ||þarna mun ég ekki koma aftur

We visited this place on July 7th, 2025, and honestly, we expected something negative because of the Google reviews. But we were pleasantly surprised by how amazing it turned out to be!

The main building is absolutely stunning — authentic, full of character and time, yet cleverly and gently upgraded with modern electronics that perfectly blend into the nostalgic decor. It feels like a warm time capsule made with love.

The staff deserves a special shoutout — especially the waiter with the incredibly stylish mustache (Dimitrij)! 😄 He made our dinner feel like we were guests at a friend’s cozy home.

The food was simply amazing. We often eat at Michelin-starred restaurants, and we can confidently say this meal was 100% excellent. The combination of the restaurant vibe, the food, and the service gave us such a relaxed and joyful evening.

Later we moved to our 550 Guesthouse, where we were welcomed by a very charming exterior. The house was clean, tidy, and again — authentically styled. You really feel that this place has a soul.

Our room had a private shower, so we can’t really evaluate the shared kitchen or bathroom areas. But our room was spotless and tidy. We appreciated the little notes around the room about the water system and house details — it showed real care.

The “old house sounds” gave us a sweet nostalgic feeling, and honestly, it didn’t bother us at all. We were also lucky with our neighbors — everyone was respectful and quiet, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

To those who choose a shared living space: please remember that guests are not part of the hotel staff, and the hotel can’t be held responsible for other people’s manners (or their children’s). If you have complaints, direct them at those guests — not the hotel.

A dormitory style accommodation and hotel.|Rooms are small, inbuilt desk, Lino floors and an even smaller bathroom. |Quiet room once everyone has gone to their rooms.|Restaurant is more a canteen and extremely noisy when several groups are there due to all the hard surfaces.|Staff were genuine and helpful.

Excelente opción para viajeros sin complicaciones. Un hostal bastante económico. Para hacer el check inn, se debe ir a otro hotel (Tindastóll & Annex) que queda a 1 min en auto/5 minutos a pie. La señorita que me entregó las llaves fue muy amable :).
Hay varias plazas gratis de parking frente al edicifio pintoresco. Al entrar al hostel, se siente un olor a azufre (no siempre), seguro por las tuberías de la ducha (en este hostal, el agua caliente de las duchas huele a azufre por venir directamente de aguas geotérmicas), pero no tuve ningún problema con ello. La cocina y el comedor en el segundo piso muy amplio y con bonita vista hacia la costa. Me gustó el ambiente de comedor antiguo. La habitación que me tocó estuvo muy limpia. Las sábanas olían muy bien que daba gusto echarse. Había un colgador de ropa grande, un tacho de basura y una linda vista a la iglesia del pueblo. En la noche pude ver por primera vez la aurora boreal desde mi ventana, aunque no muy clara (estando en el mes de setiembre). La ubicación del hostal es excelente, está en el centro del pueblo y frente a la iglesia. Hay varios restaurantes a no más de 5 minutos a pie. Recomendado para viajeros solos o parejas. 😃

Lo único que podría recomendar es poner alguna mesita o colgadores en los baños del tercer piso, ya que al momento de bañarme no tengo dónde poner mi neceser y mi toalla al momento de salir de la ducha. Lo demás todo excelente.😉

Don't wear silver jewelry under the shower in this place!! There is so much sulfur in the water it changed my silver jewelry in a different colour. I hope my rings can be saved.

In the bathrooms they mention the awful smell of the hot water, which I experienced only in this place. But would have been nice if it said something about removing your jewelry as well.

Besides that the whole place reeked of fish. We think that someone had cooked fish here or something. The people before us cooked chicken and we cooked a curry but those smells were gone right away but the fish smell stayed and we can also smell it in our clothes.

Kleine kamers waar geen gelegenheid is om je koffers neer te zetten. Slechte bedden. Geen wastafel in de kamer, drie badkamers met daarin de WC en wastafel voor 14 kamers is volstrekt onvoldoende. Oud gebouew met krakende vloeren en trappen, badkamer met rioollucht. Ontbijt op een andere locatie. Enige positieve is dat je gebruik kan maken van een keukentje. Verder is erin het dorp en omgdving bijna niks te doen. Sterk af te raden

Würde ich wirklich absolut niemandem empfehlen! Das Guesthouse ist derart abgeranzt, ich kann es nicht anders ausdrücken.
Als wir das Zimmer betreten, klebte ein Kaugummi am Nachttischlämpchen!
Im Bad gibt es keinen Föhn, allerdings gibt es auch keine Steckdose dort. Im Hauptraum gibt es Steckdosen, aber keinen Spiegel. Man könnte sich also sowieso nicht die Haare mit Föhn oder Glätteisen richten. Der Duschvorhang ist unten komplett dreckig. Die Handtücher sind zerrissen.
Auf dem Flur riecht es permanent nach Essen, da es irgendwo im Haus eine Gemeinschaftsküche gibt, die anscheinend fleißig benutzt wird und wohl über keinen oder einen sehr schlechten Abzug verfügt.
Statt auf das nahe gelegene Meer hatten wir die Aussicht auf die Mülltonnen vom Nachbarn. Das Fenster war allerdings so dreckig, dass dieser Anblick etwas verdeckt wurde.

Zur Antwort des Hotels (siehe unten): Ich denke nicht, dass man auf die Schnelle viel hätte ändern können. Es waren einfach zu viele „Kleinigkeiten“.

Do not book a room in this guesthouse. Spend the extra 2000-4000 ISK and book another place, you will regret it if you don’t (We surely did). There bathrooms are shared bathrooms (2 bathrooms for 20-25 people). The rooms are so loud, you can hear everyone walking and opening doors. While we stayed there, there were many children in the guesthouse which ran inside and made a lot of noises. People were in the kitchen and made food until 23-24 o clock and the children were up until 23 and ran back and fourth. In retrospect we should have spend the ekstra 2000-4000 isk and booked a better place
